The "track team": Steve, Drew and Jaren

Talk about luck. As Drew, Jiro, Steve and I sat at breakfast at the Barking Down on 3rd Avenue we were trying to find something to do. Claudia, Chris' girlfriend calls and offers us 4 tickets to the Belmont Stakes. We take the invitation and head out the watch the ponies.

This is Afleet Alex.

We made it for the last few races. Lets just say I didn't win big. But, then again, I didn't bet big either.

LIBERTY LAKE
July 4th, 2005

"Camp Tichy" had an agenda a mile long.
In brief :

Day 1:

We begin with a workout of swimming the lake, a Tichy family tradition. The water was brisk and refreshing...

Boating on Liberty Lake.

Steve attempting to ski.

Fishing. Jadyn, Dawn and Emily. They didn't receive the fishing merit badge because they did not catch a fish.

However, Steve caught 3 fish. He's the only person I know who's caught 3 fish in 2 days fishing in Liberty Lake

Exhausted by the lake activities it was time for a nap.

Steve and I taking a Kip in the hammock.

After the day's acitivies, we worked up quite the appetite...

Dinner Time! Chef Greg is cooking up some grub.

For the evening entertainment of Day 1, we had a bonfire on the beach and made s'mores.

Day 2: The 4th of July

The day begins with the parade in Alpine Shores

Annie finishing up the parade. "The parade is now over. Happy 4th of July"

After the parade it's back to chez Tichy. There we continued to celebrate by boating (see Day 1 activities), feasting and drinking.

After the sun went down. It was time for the fireworks.

"OOh, that's my favorite....oooh, ahhh...no that's my favorite."

...well, we didn't get to see too much of the fireworks. There was some drama this year. The first time a serious accident happened during the fireworks show. I won't go into details, but 2 people were injured. I promised Steve a phenomenal fireworks show and he was only able to enjoy a few. Maybe next year he'll come back to LL.

I think he had a good time. See his pictures and you tell me if he did.

Day 3:
We woke up early to catch our flight back to NYC and it turns out the tickets were for the 6th, not the 5th. Everything was booked, so Steve and I had an extra day at home. Basically Day 3's activities were a repeat of Day 1. Lots of boating, relaxing, and eating.

Day 4:
We go the airport to catch our plane and it is CANCELED. Yup. Canceled. The airlines are able to reroute us but on an overnight flight from Seattle. This allowed us to show Steve downtown Spokane and Seattle. Steve and I flew over to Seattle mid-day and hung out downtown. We went to the EMP, Pike Place Market, and the Piers. We went to dinner at Ivars and had some real Pacific seafood (fired of course). Finally, we made it back to NYC.

Newport, RI-June 26, 2005

Jamie and Lee's Wedding
Newport, RI
June 26, 2005
It was a perfect weekend for the perfect couple.
Saturday:
We arrived just in time for the rehersal dinner at "Christies". There we mingled with friends and family of the happy couple. We listened to stories of the bride and groom, ate a delicious meal, and prepared for the big night the next day.

Sunday:
Steve and I spent the morning strolling along the main street of downtown Newport. We found a place to rent sailboats and did exactly that. We sailed all afternoon in the Newport Harbor.

After hours out to sea, we quickly got ready for the event. Steve was a witness and signed their katuba. What an honor.

The ceremony was outside on a hilltop overlooking the ocean. It was picturesque.

Jamie and Lee could not have asked for anything more. It was perfect.

Post ceremony we ate, drank and danced to our hearts' content.

Modest Mouse-June 14, 2005

Modest Mouse:
Summerstage Concert Series in Central Park

Erin and I had a "roommate bonding" night at the Summerstage concert in Central Park. Erin had an extra ticket (since her brother couldn't make it down from Boston) so I got to go! It was a beautiful hot humid evening in Central Park. We arrived early enough to score some beers and find an awesome spot (next the the annoying high school kids)!

Here's Erin and I

Peter and Megan's Wedding-June 4, 2005

Peter and Megan's Wedding
June 4, 2005

Peter and Megan. The bride and groom.

It was a perfect day. It was near 100 degrees, but tucked away in the shade of the "mountains" of Connecticut, was an old white mansion where the wedding took place. It was an outdoor wedding that was staged in the backyard of the mansion. On the patio was the bar and dance floor. Inside is where dinner was served and the socializing took place.
As the sun faded away behind the "mountain", the dancing began.

Steve and Megan. Old high school buddies.

Peter and Steve. I think I interrupted a fantasy trade conversation.

Ah. Steve and Jaren.
