Mike Doughty-October 22, 2005

MIKE DOUGHTY's BAND!
Webster Hall
New York,NY

Steve and I went to see Mike Doughty and his band. It was an excellent concert of playing new and old tunes, in addition to loud band-jammin' and accoustic solo-rockin'!

It was an intimate experience that I tried to capture on my camera.
I realized after the fact that my shutter speed was too slow to kodak Doughty's movements. Next time, I'll be sure to change the speed. But here's a few pictures.

Doughty playing solo!

Doughty and the mystery man playing the bass (who shared with the audience the shortest quote from the Bible?!?!?!?) and the dummer, who was know to the audience as the man named "Rapheal" from Phili! Side note: Since when is "The Doveman" Asian? I guess Doguhty got a new keyboard player from the concert last year in Boston.
Too bad. I liked "The Doveman".
The new keyboardist--I just know him as the Asian Doveman.
Songs played: (opened with) Bustin' up a Starbucks; Madeline at Nine, Thank you Lord for sending me the F train, White Lexus, Sunken-eyed Girl, 27 Jennifers, St. Louise is listening, Looking at the World from the bottom of a well...among others. One of which included a remix of Firetruck.

Brother Jimmy's- October 17, 2005

"It's just a little bit country" and lot bit DRUNK!
The boys lifted the ban on women this Monday night since Jadyn was in town visiting. Look what happens when the women "save a horse and ride a cowboy"....

Everything's going A-ok on the way to the bar. Jadyn and Erin become BFF!

JT3 & JT4. 2 HOT women!

Here we are inside BJ's. These two are posers.

Maria (hiding from the camera?) and Glen.

Steve's talking with Jessamyn.
She too experienced a Brother Jimmy's night. Click HERE to see what happened that night. All I have to say is when Tichy women come for a visit in NYC, BJ's will never be the same...

Getting our grub on.
Chicken wings and beer. All you can eat. All you can drink.
$14.95. BEST DEAL EVER!

Erin and Glen. Enjoying their wings and beers! Ok, maybe not Glen.

Someone's too cool. What gang is this Steve? The OHIO State gang?
That's what it looks like to me.
(His hands spell out "OHIO"--can't you see it)

I think Drew wants to belong too.
Oh wait he just wants a treat

A shout out to Vig & Liesel--I'm getting my "I'm taking a picture" pose on!
Head slightly tilted to the left with a big grin!

"An empty glass is an unhappy glass"

Do you like seafood?

It was getting late. The bar cleared out except for us. And I think I know why...

Locks of Love-October 15, 2005

I was growing out my hair (for the longest time) to donate to Locks of Love, a non-profit organization that creates hairpieces for underprivileged children who suffer from long-term medical hair loss.

To donate you have to have a minimum of 10". I had just enough in length.
I walked into a random salon and chopped it all!

Here's the before:
Me and all my 10" of beautiful curls (thanks Dad)

In the process of chopping:

YIKES! It's so short in the back....

...VOILA! My new hair cut minus 10 + inches of curls.

Hopefully my curls will make some child a good-lookin' wig.

Click here if you have 10" of hair you would like to donate to Locks of Love!!!

Steve and Drew's Free Beer Birthday Bash-October 1, 2005

Steve and Drew's Free Beer Birthday Bash
Pat O'Briens Pub
October 1, 2005

A few months ago Steve and I went to Pat O'Briens to watch a Red Sox game. Behind the bar, Steve saw a fishbowl with a sign on it saying, "put your business card in here to win a free keg of beer". Steve didn't have one of his business cards, but I did. I put it in the fishbowl and voila! Steve won the free keg of beer. Since he won around his and Drew's birthday, he decided to throw a free beer drinking birthday bash!

Let me recap the afternoon before the evening. Steve cooked up a delicious brunch for Drew, Maria, Chris, Claudia, Mikey and myself while watching the Red Sox-Yankees game. He used his new jumbo-sized griddle to sizzle up some beacon, pancakes, home-fries and eggs. In addition to the meal were mamosas and bloodly marys.

Post-brunch several of the previously -mentioned went to the Big Easy to play some beer pong until the free beer fest.

Going from Delizia's (post-Big Easy) to Pat O'Briens, Drew met a friend.

Here's Drew and his buddy Jacob. I guess he was telling Jacob to make sure his homework gets done before he goes to sports practice.

While Drew is making friends with his buddy Jacob, Chris was "stuck in a glass cage of emotion"....

Here is Chris attempting to break off the plastic cover of the
advertisement on the side of the phone booth.

Don't worry Chris, no one is watching....

As you can see, Chris managed to open the plastic cover for the ad...here is Drew wearing the ad...

After that little detour, we walked about a block and Drew bought a pumpkin...

Yes, we finally made it to the pub to continue the festivities. As a token of his appreciation, Drew gave the pumpkin to the bar tender at Pat O'Briens.

"Happy birthday day to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday Drew and Steve....

Happy birthday to you!!!!"

...."and many more, on channel 4. And scooby-doo on channel 2..."

They've known each other longer than they haven't. (Damn that's a long time...you two are getting OLD)

Olivier and Mikey sitting at the bar getting their drink on!

They have their serious faces on...I don't dare disrupt them.

Steve and Scott. I hate having people pose for pictures. But, Scott insisted. On purpose, I captured a "not-so-good-looking" photo of them both. 1, 2, 3...say "cheese".

Then there was a brief dance party.
Notice what hat Chris is wearing.
GO HUSKIES!!!

Let the games begin.
24 pitchers of free beer and 1 hour later beer pong commenced.
On one team we had Scott's roommates and Mikey. Nice technique Mikey.

And on the other team we had....Drew playing solo?!?!?!

And the game of flip cup.

It was us vs. people from Jersey (that would be my guess)

Scott et al. I gave the ok to pose for this picture. Scott--lookin' good.

Olivier in the window seat. (He looks like he's sitting on stage.) Drew and Maria.

B&T?!?!?!

Maria, are you threatening Wynne? Dude, he has a 1' height advantage over you...(don't worry I know how you feel--being short and all)

Jaren and Steve. Up close and personal.

And here the camera caught Olivier dancing.

Don't worry Liesel, no one else saw. This is just for the camera.

Post-Pat O'Briens, it was necessary to get another slice.

To Delizia's once again!

Then, it was time to crash.

A special thanks to me for putting Steve's business card in the fishbowl and to Drew and Steve for having reason to celebrate!

Champagne Brunch-September 25, 2005

A Sunday spent drinking momosas and bubbly!

Nadeem, his friend, Wynne, Robin, Steve and I went out to a "champagne" brunch at Artepasta in the Village. It was a lovely afternoon where the bubbly was free-flowing. Artepasta had a great brunch/lunch menu with all you can drink champagne or momosas for $12.95. What an unbelievable deal.

Here is Wynne, Robin and Steve...don't you dig the paintings in the back. This place was interesting. As we were eating, we spotted a tranie with a fro and in heels and a mini skirt running after someone. It was entertaining. Nadeem clarified that at the restaurant next door the prereq to be a waitress is to be a transvestite.

Jaren and Nadeem...I got the giggles. I think it was because of all the champagne consumed.

Jaren, Nadeem, and friend (I'm sorry Nadeem, I don't remember her name).

Post-brunch Steve and I took a nap and didn't wake up until 8pm. So much for having a productive day. It was just productive in another way--spending quality time with new and old friends!
