Chez Schwartz holiday decorations

Seasons Greetings!

Friday night we went out and bought our christmas tree. We're not quite sure what kind of tree it is (hopefully Jess you will be able to tell us the type), but is is roughly 2.5 feet tall and very prickly.

We carried it home and instantly the fresh-tree smell permeated throughout the apartment. I made some vin chaud to get us in the holiday spirit and Steve sung some holiday tunes.

In Barcelona, we bought some inexpensive ornaments. They are a bit bland, so Steve decided to add some life to them. He took 4 of them and painted on their faces makeup to resemble KISS...

Steve had never decorated his own christmas tree before, so I let him do the honors of hanging the star. To add a bit of Semetic flair to this Christian tradition, we made a Star of David...out of an old Lowenbrau beer can. Classy.

We also have a few other decorations around the apartment. This is our advent calendar. We scored this for free from our favorite everything store, Migros. Every day in December, until Christmas day, there is a little window we open to help us countdown to Christmas. Behind the window of the day we find an item for sale at the store such as christmas cookies, pates, candles and decorations to name a few.

And here are our star lights. I came home one day and Steve surprised me with christmas lights. We hung them in our kitchen window. Aren't we festive?

And beneath the twinkle lights, is our homemade Menorah. It's made out of tree candle holders (that clip onto the branches) and our spice rack.

And here we are with our tree!

Happy Holidays!

Very festive tree! Painting the faces, v. reminiscent of Steve's foosball players.
